Ajai S. Gaur is a distinguished academic figure holding the position of Professor of Strategic Management and International Business. Currently serving as the Chair of the Department of Management and Global Business at Rutgers Business School – Newark and New Brunswick, Ajai also boasts an additional appointment in the Division of Global Affairs at Rutgers University. His profound impact on the academic landscape is evident through his role as the Editor-in-Chief at the prestigious Journal of World Business, as well as his position as a consulting editor at the Journal of International Business Studies.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to research, Ajai S. Gaur was honored with the Rutgers Business School Dean’s Eminent Research Professorship for a five-year term starting in 2019. Furthermore, his dedication and scholarly achievements led to his induction as a Fellow of the Academy of International Business in 2021.
Ajai’s research endeavors are focused on understanding the intricacies of strategic adaptation among emerging economy firms during periods of institutional transition. He has also delved into critical topics surrounding the institutional distance between various governance environments, multinational corporations’ ownership and staffing strategies, and entry mode choices in international investments. His extensive empirical research has spanned across countries including Australia, China, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the UK, and the USA. Notably, his insightful research findings have been published in esteemed journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, and Organization Research Methods.
