ACERE 2022 – First Call For Abstracts

May 20, 2021 by acere

Please join us for ACERE 2022 (8 to 11 February 2022), co-organised by the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research (QUT) and Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship AGSE, School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, Swinburne University of Technology.

After careful consideration of the current situation and potential future scenarios, the ACERE Academic Committee decided unanimously that ACERE 2022 will take place.

The ACERE Executive Board has decided that we are going to plan this conference to be on a ‘face-to-face basis’. This means that we are going to work on the assumption that at the very minimum, an Australia-New Zealand travel bubble will be in effect.

For our international colleagues, you will have the ability to join us virtually (except the physical social events) if the borders of Australia remain closed. If there are travel restrictions within the Australia-New-Zealand region, we will also be prepared to switch to online mode.

Because of our burst of optimist and the “long time no see” feeling, we want to create a memorable experience and therefore we will have some important news on this year’s program (stay tuned).

While the conference continues to cover all themes and aspects of entrepreneurship research, we can already reveal that the special theme of the 2022 ACERE Conference will be “Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and Commercialisation of Research”.

We can also announce that, like in the past years, we will also run the ACERE Doctoral Consortium and the ACERE Educators Forum as part of the ACERE 2022 conference along with having several keynotes from distinguished senior scholars and experts in the field of entrepreneurship research and practice.

While we acknowledge the level of uncertainty that many entrepreneurship researchers around the world are facing these days, the abstract submission portal opens on 17 August 2021 and will close on 17 September 2021.

So please join us and contribute to this great community spirit that makes entrepreneurship research and the ACERE conference so special.

We are anticipating the conference fees will be in the range of $350 for standard delegates, and $150 for PhD students.

Please note: The conference covers all themes and aspects of entrepreneurship research. An invitation to submit full papers for presentation at the conference is upon acceptance to of your abstract. Further notification of acceptances and the mode of delivery will be emailed to the submitting authors by early October 2021 along with additional information on what form the conference may take and how you might deliver your presentation and interact with conference participants.  Full papers will be due on or before 5 November 2021 (only full papers submitted on or before this date will be peer-reviewed, will qualify for awards, and will qualify to be nominated for a PDS Session).

Let us make ACERE 2022 at Swinburne in Melbourne a very positive and valued experience for you and your colleagues. The 2022 conference partner, Swinburne University of Technology, together with the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research, are working on an exciting academic and social program.

Please feel welcome to forward this invitation to your colleagues and students.

Director QUT ACE, Chair ACERE Academic Committee

Mile Terziovski
Head of Department, Business Technology and Entrepreneurship, Swinburne University of Technology, Co-Chair ACERE 2022

Registration now open

December 18, 2020 by karen

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, ACERE 2021 will be different than the previous ones.

The 2021 conference will keep the typical ACERE structure (Doctoral Consortium, Educators Forum, Interactive Paper Presentations, Paper Development Sessions, Panel Discussions, Best Paper Awards Session, Social Events) but will be offered via on online format that allows all participants, including international participants from various continents, to participate in all types of sessions in a way that guarantees a high-level of academic exchange. This also involves high-caliber keynote speakers. The conference will be accessible through our conference APP and website.  Once registered you will receive instructions on how to set up the conference APP.

In 2021 you will have 24hr access to the ‘ACERE Social Zoom Room’ to meet with other conference participants during the conference week.  The link to the ‘ACERE Social Zoom Room’ will be made available to you via the Conference APP.

Importantly, we also plan for a few activities to be held offline (physical location at Bond University, Gold Coast) – so ACERE 2021 will be a hybrid format, essentially (but those participants that cannot attend physically do not miss anything and benefit from the whole program via interactive online formats over 4 conference days).

In addition, for those that can travel and participate physically, we organised an on-site physical program at Bond University, Gold Coast, (face to face F2F) which will run from Tuesday 9 February through to Friday 12 February 2021, organised and hosted by members of the ACERE academic committee. These sessions will comprise of workshops on academic career development for early- and mid-career researchers, discussions of emerging research topics and fields, the link between entrepreneurship research, education and practice, and updates on academic publishing and top journals. We will also provide ample opportunity for physical attendees to interact with each other and to get in contact with senior scholars and thought leaders.

The ACERE conference was extremely well organized. Communication, planning and execution; it all works perfectly. High academic standard, very skilled participants, nice presentations, interesting topics and discussions, as well as relevant key-notes and a nice atmosphere. A truly great conference.

Martin Senderovitz

A fantastic conference. Quality of papers and quality of feedback provided is of a high standard. The key notes were superb. The size of the conference supports a real community feeling amongst the participants.

Jillian Gordon

I have been in touch with ACERE for more than ten years. This is a great venue for young scholars to learn from each other and a great opportunity to closely interact with top scholars in the field of entrepreneurship research. I deeply appreciate the efforts of the organizing team in initiating a great learning environment among participants. Doctoral consortium, pitching, and paper development session are the examples of those initiatives.

Thanaphol Virasa

The 2018 ACERE conference was my first visit and I came for the conference from Pakistan. I found the conference very productive and interactive. It gives an excellent platform to new researchers to discuss their research with outstanding academic scholars

Dr. Noor Muhammad

I would like to congratulate you for the wonderful ACERE Conference you organised in Brisbane this year – 2018. I was happy to participate in such great event! – Thank you

Christian Felzensztein

This was my first time to Australia and I’m completely smitten. In sum, thanks for an amazing experience and I hope to be a life-long attendee moving forward!’

David Gras

Great conference and wonderful event!

Patricia McDougall-Covin

Thank you so much for this very well organized and high quality conference.

Charlott Menke
Otto-von-Guerick Universitat

I really enjoyed DC and main conference. It was really a wonderful experience for me.

Linh T. Nguyen
University of NSW

I wanted to thank you and congratulate you on the format and quality of the conference. I had the chance for one my papers to be included in the PDS session, and I believe it has truly been helpful. The initial as well as PDS reviews were of high quality, and the exchanges during the session itself, outstanding. I hope you will re-conduct this format in the future!

Virginie Vial
Kedge Business School

Thank you for setting such a supportive and developmental tone both for the doctoral consortium and for the whole ACERE conference. I haven’t been to too many conferences, but I’ve been to enough to know that ACERE offers a unique and golden opportunity for doctoral candidates and early career researchers to learn from some of the best in the field about how to improve and position our research.

Thanks again for providing our research community with such an inviting and generous conference.

Lene Foss
Professor
The Arctic University of Norway

As a practitioner, I thorougly enjoyed the 2014 ACERE conference in Sydney.  Unlike the other BIG entrepreneurship conferences that I have attended, ACERE covers many of the important issues and topics in entrepreneurship research and also provides a rich practitioner and policy perspective. More importantly the ACERE conference team were entrepreneurial in their thinking- they knew the needs of their customers, the participants, quite intimately and provided an awesome customer service. The conference was the “right size” which facilitates excellent networking opportunities not only for researchers, but also for students, practitioners and policy makers. I plan to be back!

Dr. Suresh Kumar
Founder and CEO
NexAge Technologies USA Inc/Green Earth LLC and Game Changers LLC

I gained a great deal from this session, particularly the need to properly frame the paper (and any paper), and ways to link my research to the theory. In addition, the discussion helped me to work out a “template” that I can apply to a number of research ideas that I have vaguely been thinking about. This was a really valuable session for me, and it helped me to finish the conference on a very high note.

Peter Balan
University, South Australia

I really enjoyed the conference – it is great value, something that you cannot say of many conferences.

Martie-Louise Verreynne
University, Queensland

As a first year PhD, I had no idea how invaluable it would be to learn from others, gain insight into the research process, gain valuable feedback, and network in a very supportive environment. I’m so glad that I came and hope to see you next year. Well done on hosting a great event.

Erin Castellas
Monash University

Thank you for hosting a very successful and enjoyable conference. I am looking forward to build my career and network by taking part in the future activities of ACE.

Saskia de Klerk

“It was a fantastic conference!”

Lene Foss

I’d just like to thank you again for the great conference – We learnt so much from all the different sessions, the experts and it was great to be able to get personal feedback.

Retha Scheepers
University, the Sunshine Coast

Thanks for such a great conference!

Morgan P. Miles
Professor
University

Thank you for providing doctoral students like me a wonderful opportunity to showcase their work and ideas as well as get invaluable insights into academia and research through the sessions and interactions. I found the Doctoral Consortium and the PDW especially helpful. The first one provided me good feedback on my work and the PDW really helped me in understanding how a paper had to be structured and how Editors looked at one.

Vidhula Venugopal
Doctoral Candidate
Indian Institute

It was amazing how much mentorship was embedded into the consortium and conference. I truly do believe that I gained tremendous value from attending the conference. Thank you all so much for sharing.

Sharon Simmons
